About the series
The Island of the Doomed is what local old-timers call their district, lost amid the swamps, rivers, and lakes somewhere in northwestern Russia. One morning, fishermen there discovered the body of a girl dressed in 16th-century clothing. Two detectives from different agencies — the MVD and the FSB — arrive from the capital to solve the crime. The heroes encounter the unique flavor of the Russian hinterland, with its mysterious legends and lore. Before they reach the solution, they must unravel a tangle of other, equally mysterious crimes.
