About the title
There is such a profession - defending the Motherland! An incredibly moving, sincere, and honest film about duty to one's country and oneself, about love for a woman and one's native land, about true male friendship. Soviet army officers Alexei Trofimov and Ivan Varavva went through the pain, fear, and horror of war, but managed to carry loyalty to the Motherland through their entire lives and preserve their honor and dignity. Love for one single woman gives them the strength to endure all trials and not lose their kindness and faith in tomorrow.
