About the title
Lynn works three jobs. She lives in a dilapidated house in Portland with her older brother Kenny, who has developmental disabilities, and their unpredictable mother Doreen. Lynn is trying to buy the house to secure permanent housing for the family and prevent Kenny from being taken away by child protective services. Their landlord, David, offers a favorable deal to purchase the house. However, Lynn needs her mother to provide the down payment. Doreen fails to show up for Lynn's meeting with David to finalize the deal and appears only a couple of hours later with a new car. Unable to convince her mother to return the car to the dealership, Lynn tries to find $25,000 by 9 a.m. the next day — the deadline David has agreed to wait until, for the last time.
