About the title
Merit, an Afghanistan war veteran, is still friends with her fellow servicewoman Zoe, even though Zoe is dead. Group therapy and the help of her strict mother bring no results, and Merit increasingly withdraws from reality, until one day her grandfather Dale needs her help.
