About the title
The story revolves around young Oliver and his younger sister June, whose parents often quarrel and are on the verge of divorce. The children's father, Abie, is a stingy loan officer indifferent to other people's problems, who on the eve of Christmas is foreclosing on a farm where an elderly couple, Pam and Bill Woodsley, care for sick and homeless animals.
