About the series
The plot is based on real events that took place during the reign of Sultan Suleiman I, and tells of a period in the life of a girl named Alexandra, taken captive by the Turks and renamed Hürrem. She later became Suleiman's first official wife, but had to go through a difficult path to get there. The series is about a great love: a simple concubine, Hürrem, won the heart of the Sultan himself. The ruler carried his love for her throughout his whole life, going against tradition and his mother's influence for her sake. The simple girl not only managed to survive in the harsh conditions of the Ottoman Empire, but became one of the most influential figures, Suleiman's wife. Attempts were made on her life several times, Suleiman's wife and mother wove intrigues, and courtiers turned the Sultan against her.
