About the title
Seventh-grader Sasha Menshikov is finishing the school year at a new school and living with his aunt Nina in a small, picturesque town. Sasha's mother, a well-known scientist, brought him here from Moscow for the duration of her latest expedition. Things haven't gone well with his classmates, so after school he often wanders alone in nature. One day in the forest, Sasha finds a small fox cub caught in a trap. Learning that poachers are hunting the cub, the boy hides it in a dugout deep in the forest and starts nursing it back to health. This marks the beginning of a touching and adventure-filled story about friendship, responsibility, and justice.
