About the title
Eighteen-year-old Vanya steps into adult life with a constant sense of awkwardness: his voice has remained high-pitched, making it hard for him to feel like he fits in with others. Moving in with his birth father brings no relief — in his new family, coldness, conflict, and pressure await him. Vanya unexpectedly finds support in Sveta, a young neighbor who sings in a church choir, who helps him see his unusual voice not just as a source of shame, but as a chance to finally accept himself.
