About the series
Sixteen-year-old Miles Halter is fascinated by the last words of famous people. Following the last words of François Rabelais, he leaves his boring life with his parents and heads off to study at a new school, Culver Creek, in search of the "Great Perhaps." There he makes his first real friends and falls for a girl named Alaska Young, who turns his life upside down and then vanishes from it. A terrible tragedy forces Miles to seriously confront questions of life and death.
