About the title
1986. Guddu and Saroo are brothers. They live in the slums. Guddu works at a railway station. One day, during a shift, his younger brother falls asleep on one of the train's seats. The passenger express stops in Calcutta. He is adopted by a married couple and taken to Australia. Twenty years later, Saroo enrolls at a university in Melbourne, where he meets Indian students and, with the help of social media, begins searching for his native village, dreaming of reuniting with his lost brother. But over the years of growing up, the two have become very different people.
