About the title
Fletcher Reede is a brilliant lawyer and an incorrigible liar. He habitually lies to his wife Audrey and his son Max, and teaches his clients to bend the truth to suit their needs, twisting facts for their own benefit. His wife leaves Fletcher because of his harmful habit of lying, and his son Max, blowing out the candles on his birthday cake, makes just one wish: "I wish my beloved daddy would stop lying all the time."
