About the title
The beginning of the Great Patriotic War. Lieutenant Adi Sharipov and his platoon cover the retreat of the regimental headquarters and are left surrounded, behind enemy lines. The enemy drives the unit into a swamp. Fear of the unknown, despair, and doubt haunt the soldiers until they realize that waiting and inaction will destroy the unit faster than enemy bullets.
