About the title
One evening, three men find themselves together in the elevator of the fashionable Parisian Hôtel de Crillon: an Amazonian Indian on a humanitarian tour, his interpreter — a Frenchman raised among the Indians — and another curious character, the idle swindler Perrin, pursued by gangsters of every stripe over gambling debts.
