About the title
In the tiny Italian village of Inviolata, time has literally stood still. The local inhabitants belong to the fairy-tale-like Marchesa de Luna, who mercilessly exploits their labor. Everything changes during one of the patron family's visits to Inviolata. The young aristocrat Tancredi strikes up a friendship with Lazzaro — a handsome and simple-hearted village youth. The fantastical twists of their relationship will completely upend the villagers' familiar way of life and lead to an almost biblical apocalypse of their small world.
