About the title
After finishing their studies at Harvard, Sam and his girlfriend Alex head to Los Angeles to do scientific work at the home of Sam's mother, Jane, who is supposed to be away. But an unpleasant surprise awaits them: Jane is home, and moreover, she has taken in a rock band from whom she is trying to get a new hit for her record label. Jane's free-spirited nature and her wild crowd embarrass and irritate the "proper" Sam, and soon his life descends into chaos when he notices that Alex prefers Jane's company and noisy parties to her dissertation on insect life...
