About the title
The 1950s. Polish émigré engineer Jan Boyarski is a brilliant inventor to whom the system has closed every door for earning a living in his profession — in France he cannot obtain patents for his numerous inventions. He starts forging banknotes, and does it so perfectly that the Bank of France is willing to pay any reward for his capture. Jan now lives a double life; his family suspects nothing, while an experienced police inspector, Mattei, is on his trail, obsessed with a single goal — catching a man he knows only by the signature style of his "work."
