About the title
April 1939. The Spanish Civil War has ended, and Franco is celebrating his victory. The dictator decides to mark his triumph by gathering his loyal generals for a lavish banquet in the sumptuous interiors of a capital hotel. But while preparations are underway, it turns out that all the chefs are in prison. A brigade of Republican cooks is temporarily released from custody to work at the hotel, forced to prepare exquisite dishes for their enemies. While ceremonial speeches ring out at the set tables, a conspiracy is brewing in the kitchen.
