About the series
An adventurous detective story combining crime drama, investigation, and elements of ironic detective comedy. The main character is Dima Barkov, nicknamed Bayun, a talented con artist and the son of a deceased police officer. After his latest scam, he faces a choice: go to prison or make a deal with Colonel Rubin, an old friend of his father's. Bayun chooses freedom and becomes a freelance consultant for the Samara Special Investigations Department, where his knowledge of the criminal world, cunning, and unconventional thinking help solve the most convoluted crimes. Instead of strictly following procedure, Bayun uses methods well familiar to him from his past life, which is why one investigation follows another. However, working in the special department gradually forces him to reconsider his own views, while personal relationships and family circumstances increasingly intrude on his professional life.
