About the title
Based on A. Ferdowsi's poem "Shahnameh". Zahhak, ruler of the Kingdom of Snakes, seizes a neighboring state through cunning and deceit and establishes there a cult of the Serpent goddess. Two snakes have grown on his shoulders, which feed on human brains. Every day a dancer, priestess of the cult, performs the snake dance in the city square. Whoever she kisses is doomed to be sacrificed to the snakes... The best film of its era in its genre, with all the exoticism inherent to oriental cinema.
