About the title
Argentina, 1981. Political prisoner Valentin ends up sharing a cell with the eccentric Molina. To brighten the prison routine, dreamy Molina, obsessed with pop culture, tells his cellmate about his favorite musical, "Kiss of the Spider Woman," starring film star Ingrid Luna. Gradually the two men grow closer and learn to cope with the harsh reality of prison by losing themselves in thoughts of the glamorous lives of the musical's characters. The film explores themes of freedom, illusion, and humanity under dictatorship.
