About the series
Parents send schoolboy Styopa to spend his summer vacation at his grandmother's village house — as a punishment. There he is forced to give up modern technological comforts and live by the village's rules. Running away yet again from local teenagers, Styopa tries to hide in a well, but falls into it. Climbing out, he realizes he has ended up in a real Cossack village of the 17th century, at a crucial historical moment for the country. Fate decrees that Styopa will learn a great deal from his distant ancestors, find true friends, and master, in practice, the history lesson he failed at school.
