About the series
The eruption of the subglacial volcano Katla brings mysterious forces to the surface, turning the life of a nearby town upside down... In Iceland there is a town called Vík, the southernmost town in Iceland, with a population of 486. Nearby lies the Katla volcano, which constantly threatens the town's residents. In reality, an eruption of Katla could happen at any moment, so the residents constantly hold drills on what to do if the volcano suddenly awakens. The series takes place in Vík, and in the story the Katla volcano has indeed entered a phase of activity, fulfilling the residents' worst fears. But that's not all - a woman covered in volcanic ash appears out of nowhere on the glacier. She claims her name is Gunhild and that she works at the local hotel. The only problem is, there's already a Gunhild in Iceland, and she looks remarkably like the girl found on the glacier.
