About the series
Detective Sergeant Karen Pirie reopens a murder case. Her investigation exposes flaws in a case from 1996. There is no new evidence to justify reopening the 25-year-old unsolved murder of young barmaid Rosie Duff, who was strangled, though she died from blood loss caused by a stab wound to the abdomen. Her body was found by three students, who have since grown up to become a surgeon, a university lecturer, and an artist. At the time, they were questioned by police but never charged, despite inconsistencies in their stories.
