About the title
Stories about those who find a way to add a little more brightness to everyday life and the world around them. A biology teacher from a small-town school, a doctor from Moscow, a kindergarten caregiver, a simple worker — all the characters take small miracles and happy changes into their own hands. And not only for themselves. The anthology opens with the inspiring novella "A Lesson in Ecology," about a principled teacher who changes the life of his school. The hero of "Father and Son" is a successful surgeon from the capital who comes to a poor hospital deep in the provinces. The touching short film "Portrait of Mother" tells the story of a young caregiver looking after a boy from an orphanage. "No Buses Here" is a poignant story of a chance meeting at an abandoned bus stop. The collection closes with the novella "The Big Eight," about two enthusiasts who decide to help stray dogs.
