About the title
A portrait of a prison through whose walls a record number of politicians, revolutionaries, scientists, philosophers, and military men have passed. The film's subjects are staff, inmates, and veterans of the Federal Penitentiary Service who once oversaw Stalin's son Vasily, Lidiya Ruslanova, and figures of the criminal underworld.
