For many viewers, this film has for decades been the embodiment of the most wonderful winter holiday, filled with the scents of fresh pine and oranges, and the sound of a champagne cork popping "hussar-style." "Irony of Fate" has become for us a symbol of New Year's Eve, a night in which there is always room for magic. Magic indeed, because finding one's fate through a random, utterly unimaginable coincidence — what is that, if not the greatest of miracles?
