About the title
After graduating from Emory College, one of its top students and athletes, Christopher McCandless, gives away all his belongings, donates the $24,000 he saved during his studies to charity, and sets off hitchhiking to Alaska to immerse himself in the wilderness. Along the way, Christopher meets various people who, in one way or another, influence his life.
