About the title
In the late 19th century, during the Third Carlist War in Spain, a group of orphaned children sheltering in a church is attacked. Miraculously, one girl survives, saved by a mysterious woman. The girl grows up far from people and daylight — her rescuer says she helped her survive through a special ritual. Only later does the girl learn that her rescuer was not an angel but an immortal vampire, who granted her eternal life.
