About the title
All her life, Nadya made choices with an eye toward pleasing someone else or fitting in with the people around her. As a result, by the age of 45 she found herself at a dead end. On one hand, she has everything many people lack — a family, a job at a university, status. On the other hand, she doesn't feel like she's living her own life. But suppressing her inner self can't go on forever. After her husband's infidelity, Nadya realizes she can't keep living this way. At that moment, her niece Alyona, who is into stand-up comedy, moves into her apartment and pushes the protagonist to start changing. Gradually finding harmony with herself, Nadya begins to change for the better. But will Nadya be able to defend her right to be herself — to dress the way she wants, do what she loves, and date a younger man — when her family, friends, and colleagues believe she is breaking social norms and do everything they can to stop it?
