About the title
Alla has devoted most of her life to her ex-husbands, son and daughter. She works as a tutor, continuing to support her adult children and husbands. Every day her family comes to her for lunch, showing no interest at all in Alla herself. At one such "family lunch," Alla nearly dies choking on a potato, but her family doesn't even notice. One day she comes up with a plan to free herself from her family's control. Alla tells her family that she is terminally ill. Her husbands and children weep tears of sincere sympathy, but then start thinking about their possible inheritance. A real battle begins, one that Alla can only stop by very radical means — teaching her family a lesson and finally forcing them to grow up.
