About the title
The film tells the story of famous boxer Roberto Duran, nicknamed 'Hands of Stone'. At sixteen he stepped into the ring for the first time, and it submitted to the young athlete. Roberto pursued his athletic career until he was fifty, following a truly long and fascinating path. We learn the story of an ordinary Panamanian boy's rise to sporting Olympus. He had to overcome many obstacles, and even a disqualification in his first professional fight for a low blow did not break the athlete, who kept working hard toward his goal. He wanted only one thing — to become champion.
