About the title
16-year-old Marge — an insecure girl who struggles to connect with others — lives with her mother in California. They don't have a home of their own yet, but her mother is a realtor, which lets them stay temporarily in houses that are for sale. Marge's father left when she was only two, and rumor has it he now lives somewhere on the coast of Mexico. Marge might never have met him if not for a tragedy about to strike her life. She'll have to pack her things, leave her dog, Toshnilka, in the care of her only friend, and head off to a foreign country to meet a man who seems to have no idea how to be a good parent. But her passion for soccer and her father's love of surfing might help forge new family bonds.
