About the title
16-year-old Zhenya, whom everyone calls "Zhest" (Hardcore), fully lives up to her nickname: she's harsh and wrecks her relationships with everyone around her. She became this way after a concussion and a leg injury. Now she limps and sees the world in anything but rosy colors. Zhenya blames her injury on her best (now former) friend Prikhodko and directs all her anger and biting cynicism at him. But it's not just Prikhodko who gets it - her parents, older brother, girlfriends, and classmates all bear the brunt too. Everything changes when she meets Svyatoslav, the head of a robotics club, who becomes her mentor. By working with robots, she learns to connect with people again, starts enjoying life once more, and most importantly, regains an old friend.
