About the title
The action takes place in a fishing village buffeted by strong winds from every side. It's hard to keep secrets here, and the harsh climate doesn't make life easier for the people. The residents have to earn their living through hard, diligent labor, and for many, fishing is their only source of income. Notable events and crimes are rare here, so any act of violence becomes a major sensation. At the center of the story is a mother raising a son alone and trying to cope with life's hardships. She is torn apart, wanting to protect her own child while not betraying her personal beliefs. All her life she believed in justice and lived by God's laws. For the sake of everyone's well-being she must conceal a terrible lie, one that steadily destroys her family and the small, close-knit community.
