About the title
In 2002, investigative journalist Matt Birkbeck saw a photograph of a father and daughter. Something about the girl's gaze unsettled him, and he decided to find out who these people were. The man in the photo turned out to be repeat criminal offender Franklin Floyd, and the girl was his daughter, Sharon Marshall, whose life her father had turned into hell.
