About the title
Police officer Irina is suspended from duty over an incident involving an abuse of authority during an interrogation, and her daughter Juana is suspended from school for chronic truancy. Just then, Irina's godfather calls from a small town in Patagonia to tell her that her mother is seriously ill. Irina and Juana travel to her hometown, where three generations of women will have to rebuild their relationships with one another. At the same time, Irina becomes increasingly drawn into a suspiciously drawn-out investigation into the murder of her childhood friend's daughter. The murdered woman had been investigating the schemes of a local oil company that was illegally trying to develop indigenous lands. The more Irina learns about the case, the more she realizes that no one in this town wants it ever to be solved.
