About the title
An old children's hospital is closing, and something terrifying, full of pain and hatred, awakens to life. Maggie, one of the young patients, calls it a mechanical girl named Charlotte and insists she lives upstairs, on the second floor, which has been locked and unused for 40 years. After a boy in the hospital inexplicably suffers broken bones, the local nurse quits, and a new one is hired in her place.
