About the title
In post-apocalyptic New Zealand, a zombie epidemic has destroyed the familiar world, and the surviving remnants of humanity have been herded into government-controlled camps. Dangerous "screamers" roam the country roads, attacking anything living. Rory is grieving the death of her daughter Matti, killed by her own father after being infected, and admits to herself that it was she who struck the fatal blow when the girl turned.
