About the title
The classmates of 12-year-old Hugo don't take him seriously, because the boy keeps starting conversations about magical creatures he firmly believes in. One day, during the Christmas holidays, Hugo comes to his uncle's hotel in Odense, where he encounters a string of strange occurrences suggesting that elves live somewhere in the building. And indeed — Hugo soon meets three little ones. They desperately want to go home to the Land of Elves, but the only way to get there is with reindeer and a magic harness, and to obtain the latter, the elves need help. Hugo doesn't need to be asked twice! He bravely sets off on the journey.
