About the title
The willful Emily Brontë rarely leaves the family estate in Yorkshire. She lives in a world of melancholy daydreams, idolizes her brother Branwell, and endures the patronage of her older sister Charlotte. One day their house takes in a lodger — the charming curate William Weightman. Emily falls in love with him, experiencing moments of secret passion, rebellion, and ups and downs. Refusing to live her life looking over her shoulder at others, she defies both herself and her beloved.
