About the series
The 1960s. The world stands on the brink of nuclear war. Soviet intelligence learns of an impending strike being prepared from US military bases located in West Germany. Realizing that a retaliatory ultimatum would trigger catastrophe, Brezhnev decides to conclude a secret agreement with West German Chancellor Willy Brandt. Both politicians are taking a risk: if their contacts become known, one faces expulsion from the party, and the other impeachment. The best Soviet intelligence agents must establish contact between them under conditions of utmost secrecy — so secret that not even the KGB learns of the operation.
