About the title
Police officer Vera prevents a tragedy at a college and kills a student gunman. She claims the young man had a sawed-off shotgun, but no weapon was found on the deceased. Vera is condemned by the parents and the public alike, and her only ally becomes attorney Ilya. He immerses himself in the case and becomes convinced that his client may be right.
