About the series
Earth after the Pale Wars — the long struggle of humans against the invading alien Votans. Losses on both sides were colossal, and by the time humans and Votans realized that some mutual agreements could be reached, not that many of them were left. Fifteen years have passed since the truce was signed, and Joseph Nolan, a former soldier, returns with his adopted alien daughter to his hometown of St. Louis. Circumstances force him to defend the local residents. Later, he relocates to the town of Defiance, home to representatives of six intelligent races, and continues his struggle.
