About the title
The story is set during the Vietnam War in 1966. On August 18, a mixed unit of inexperienced Australian and New Zealand soldiers under the command of Major Harry Smith engaged in a firefight with superior enemy forces. The Viet Cong managed to cut off the unit's line of retreat, but the brave soldiers had no intention of surrendering. Soon Smith's men start running low on ammunition, but command finds a way to help the surrounded troops — the Australians and New Zealanders just need to hold out for a few more hours...
