About the title
After suffering several defeats in a row, promising heavyweight boxer Jim Braddock is forced to give up the sport. During the Great Depression, Braddock takes any job he can find to support his wife Mae and their children. Yet he still hopes to return to the ring. And one day he gets his chance. At the last minute, Jim steps in for another boxer and faces off against a contender for the world championship title...
