About the title
On December 31, 1979, five students arrive at a sanatorium lost in the Karelian forests to prepare for a New Year's show. They are led by the Docent and the rector's daughter, nicknamed Mymra. Sports instructor Pasha is planning to propose to his girlfriend Katya, but the Docent, who is in love with her, kidnaps her. Mymra, who has long been jealous of the Docent's interest in young Katerina, sets out to seduce him romantically. At the height of a disco party by the pool, the students' fun is interrupted by Vitya, a local boiler-room stoker — an expelled history student who considers himself a descendant of Karelian shamans. He performs a bloody ritual, but chooses the wrong victim.
