About the title
Young Catherine lives with a domineering father and a kind mother. Her parents' contrasting characters bring plenty of trials into the girl's life. In a small town in a remote English province, there isn't much to do. Her father is a knight who takes part in military campaigns. When he returns home, he decides it's time to find Catherine a husband. She's only 14, but for medieval England that's a normal age for marriage. Just not for the girl herself.
