About the title
The young Tsarevich refuses to pay the annual tribute to the robbers and, against the wishes of the tsar and the voivode, hires two wandering actors who pose as mighty warriors. Together they turn the village's defense into a farce and lose the battle, but then, truly taking the matter seriously, they fix the situation and defeat their enemies.
