About the series
The miniseries "Candy," starring Jessica Biel, tells the true story of Candy Montgomery, a housewife from a small town in Texas. In June 1980, Candy Montgomery confessed to killing her friend Betty Gore, thirteen days after Gore's bloodied body was found on the floor of her own home. She killed her friend Betty Gore (Melanie Lynskey) by striking her with an axe 41 times, but was later acquitted. The town was stunned when Montgomery was found not guilty. It seems that none of those close to her ever truly knew her. Candy Montgomery seemingly had it all — a loving husband with a good job, a daughter and a son, a beautiful home in a prestigious suburb — so why did she commit the crime? Based on real events, the series spends five episodes trying to explain what drove Montgomery to such violence and how she got away with it.
