About the title
'Becoming Cousteau' tells the story of how the world's most famous explorer of the ocean, a man everyone knows today, became famous. It traces Cousteau's moral evolution — from a daredevil who saw the underwater world as his personal playground, to a man who became a revolutionary champion of environmental protection. After the war, in Toulon, France, a new chapter in underwater exploration began. In 1951, the first voyage of the legendary 'Calypso' set off. A group of volunteers and the whole family — including Simone, their two sons Jean-Michel and Philippe, and their dachshund aboard — take part in one great adventure.
